You don't need to delete your character! Just quit the game and reload it. That's all I had to do when it happened to me earlier. I even made a thread about it.

Seems to be a big issue today. I was able to "sort of resolve" the issue by quitting the game and restarting, but on my second attempt at doing so, I lost everything. It's all back though.
